Keto Porridge Done Right
Porridge and keto? That’s not two words we tend to see together! After plenty of experimentation and taste tests, we’ve finally mastered our keto-friendlyPorridge Mix - you can now have your favourite soul-warming breakfast completely guilt-free. Without the texture of chia seeds, every spoonful of warm porridge is ultra-smooth. Hemp gives this fibre-rich porridge an earthy, nutty flavour that pairs perfectly with any toppings.
The best part - one bowl of porridge is only2.2g of net carbs! Indulge completely guilt-free every morning with a low-carb bowl of porridge goodness.
Toppings Galore
Toppings make or break a bowl of porridge and it’s especially important for us keto or low-carb dieters to choose toppings that won’t cause us to exceed our dailynet carb goals. We’re pros when it comes to flavour and net carbs and we thought we’d find some exciting flavour combinations that’ll keep your keto journey exciting. Below is a list of toppings we’ve tried and tested! Take your pick and rotate between different combinations to say farewell to boring breakfasts.
Matcha Porridge
Here, your favourite tea meets nutritious breakfast! We’ve seen plenty of matcha flavoured things, including matcha cakes and drinks, but why not try and mix it into your porridge?
All you have to do is whisk ½ a teaspoon of matcha powder with a dash of water until all of the powder is dissolved and you have a smooth, almost frothy matcha liquid. Then simply add this to your dry porridge mixture. Then add your preferred water or milk and microwave as usual. Once all warm and at the consistency you love, add someketo-friendly sweetenerto taste.
We topped ours with some raspberries, kiwis and pumpkin seeds to complete this delicious, keto-friendly bowl of goodness!
Chocolate & Peanut Butter Porridge
Why not add some of our Cocoa Plus to start off your day with a rich, decadent treat?
Similar to the method above, simply whisk together a tablespoon of keto-friendly cocoa powder with some water to get a smooth, watery chocolate mixture. Then add this to your porridge mix, together with some water or preferred milk. Microwave until at your preferred consistency and give it a good mix to make sure the chocolate is evenly distributed.
Add a generous dollop of peanut butter to make this even more of a treat! You can also add a couple blueberries for some bursts of flavour and some desiccated coconut or flaked almonds for some texture.
Berry Dream
Who doesn’t love berries? Try a fruity twist on porridge by adding some blueberries, raspberries and a strawberry compote!
You can make a strawberry compote very easily beforehand. All you need is 3-4 cups of fresh (or frozen!) strawberries, 2 tablespoons of your favourite keto-friendly sweetener, the zest of half a lemon, pinch of salt and ¼ cup of water. You can also add a dash of fresh herbs (e.g. basil) if you wish. Now, all you need to do is de-stem and clean the strawberries if you’re using fresh strawberries, dump everything in a pan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 5-15 minutes until the mixture thickens, without the fruit falling apart. Now you can store this compote in a jar in the fridge for upto a week.
Pour on some compote, a few berries and some flaked almonds for some texture! This super sweet porridge will have you forgetting you’re on any form of diet.
Other options you can mix and match include:
- Almond butter
- Cinnamon Sprinkles Cakes - yes dunked right in!
- Cinnamon powder
- Custard
- Maple Extract
- Nuts - including pecans and walnuts
- Keto maple syrup
